The 800 class were used on a variety of broad-gauge trains,
including passenger
services in Adelaide, as well as freight services in Adelaide and the
Adelaide
area. They were generally based at Port Adelaide. Like the 500 class,
they
have become redundant, and nearly all have been scrapped. 800 was the
first
loco built by English Electric in Australia.
