The EL class have a similar rnage of operations to AN's other mainline locos. However, all were  put into storage following AN's privatisation, as there did not seem to be much need for them. After this, they were only used on an "as required" basis, thus seeing little use given that they are reasonably new. Most of the class were taken to Goninan's Bassendean (WA) plant for storage. Later on, all but one (EL59) of the class were sold to Chicago Freight Car Leasing Australia, where they have been leased out to other operators.

CFCLA:
These locos are leased out by CFCLA to a variety of operators who require extra motive power.
These are Freight Australia, Austrac, and Lachlan Valley Railfreight . They are now all in the eastern states, and some of those travel all the way to Narrabri and Moree. Who would have expected this when the class was first built?
EL58 is in Freight Australia livery.
