This is the second batch of diesel locomotives to be used at the Newcastle steelworks, and they have a variety of functions, including hauling specialised foundry wagons. The 915 mm gauge rollingstock is designed so as to allow easier access to "tighter" spaces in the works. These narrow locos were withdrawn when the narrow guage track was closed in 1991, and have since been scrapped for spare parts.
When the closure of the Newcastle steelworks, the sale of the remaining locos has begun. Three have already been sold to other operators, with two to Austrac, and another two to the Manildra Group.

Manildra Group:
Two have been sold to the Manildra Group for use at their Manildra and Gunnedah mills.

Junee Railway Workshops:
Two have also been sold to the Junee Railway Workshops for shunting at Junee.
