The 1700 class are Clyde's equivalent of the 1600/1620 classes, and started off being used as branchline locos, based at Roma. Later, they were used as shunters in the Brisbane area. Their numbers are slowly declining, and the scrapping of most of the remainder of the class has now taken place.
An interesting point is that some "Trekkies" are concerned about the fate of 1701-D - a.k.a. the "Enterprise", which was among those locos scrapped.

Preserved locomotives:
1707 Privately owned
1710 QR Heritage Division (cab only; used as simulator)
