The 49 class ware another branchline loco, and these saw most use on
the
Western line, around Parkes. More recently, they have moved into
Sydney, and
could be seen on trains in that area. Much of their recent use was
seasonal,
and all of the class have now been withdrawn. Some have been
transferred
to the Manildra Group. All
of the
other surviving locos were stored at Delec, and following a recent
auction,
went to either CFCLA or
Northern Rivers
Railroad (now QR-Interail).
CFCLA -
KL:
These locos
are used in southern New South Wales.
Manildra
Group:
These locos are used for shunting at
the Manildra Group's flour mills at Manildra (MM01) and Gunnedah
(MM02). One has been sold on again to QR Interail.
QR
Interail:
Several 49 class saw time with Northern Rivers Railroad, without
entering service. Once Interail took over, their bogies were used on
Interail's 423 class, and the remainders were stored at Casino.
Patricks:
Two locos have been bought and refurbished by Patricks for use at
Botany in Sydney.
