The 80 class are mainline locomotives, and are generally found in
the Western
region, from Parkes to Broken Hill. Later on, they worked in other
regions.
Some of the class remain in service.
A couple were for a short time loaned to BHP at Port Kembla.
Around half the class have been sold to Silverton to become the 80s
class.
Silverton:
The 80s class will be used for
mainline
work through NSW.
Not all will be returned to service, some have been scrapped for spares.
