The X100 and X200 classes were rail tractors, and could perhaps be considered more powerful equivalents of V/Line's RT class. They were used for shunting at various locations around NSW. The X100 class were built on AD-60 steam loco bogies. To create some confusion, some of these rail tractors were reclassified and renumbered between the two classes (including number-swapping). A couple still survive in service.

The difference between the X100 and X200 classes was that the X100 had no train brake, and were confined to yard limits; while the X200 had a train brake, and could operate on main lines.

One was sold to QR Interail recently to become a shunter, while a few others are with CRT.

QR - Interail:
X117 is used for shunting at Casino for a time. It was originally numbered X217.  X209 is ex-CRT (along with some other ex-CRT X200 class rail tractors as well), before being onsold to SCT.
QR also took over CRT, and with it their X200's, although none of these are in use.

SCT:
SCT bought two of the X200's for shunting at their freight terminals, these being X209 and X107 for the Laverton (Melbourne) and Parkes terminals respectively.
